Tournament Format

The Rainbow Lake fundraising event will be held in a “round-robin” format. Partners will be drawn randomly for preliminary rounds, you’ll get a new partner every round.

The number of preliminary rounds will be determined by the number of participants.

Each game will conclude at the end of the complete turn in which a team gets to or passes a score of 21.

Each member of the team will receive the number of points the team finishes with.

After the completion of the preliminary rounds, the 8 players with the highest scores will be paired up for a playoff.

Players may bring a set of compliant bags to use, or use bags provided. Standard 2 foot by 4 foot boards will be provided.

Tournament Rules

Rules will be as follows:

Boards are placed 24 feet from front edge to front edge.

Games are played to 21 or more points. (no bust)

Woody: Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and remains on the cornhole board playing surface at the conclusion of the frame. Each woody is 1pt.

Cornhole: Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and passes through the cornhole board hole at any time within the frame. Each cornhole is 3pts.

A bag that comes to rest touching the ground AND the board does not count as a point.

Cancellation Scoring: The approved method of scoring for the sport of cornhole is “cancellation” scoring.  In cancellation scoring, the points of one player cancel out the points of their opponent.  Using this method, only one player/team can score in each frame.

Players start the game at one board and alternate pitching bags with opponent until each player has pitched all (4) of their bags.

Players must deliver the bag with an underhanded release.

Feet must stay behind the line of the front of the board at the time of releasing the bag, or it a foul and the bag does not count. One warning should be given by the opposing team, after which the opposing team should call the foul immediately to disqualify the thrown bag.

Final ruling on any disputes will be settled by the tournament organizer, Greg Brooks

Tournament Prizes

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 4 players. The prize amount will be dependent on the number of participants.
